As mentioned on the US Open content already this week, I’m staking someone in the $200 single entry on DK and two people in the $100 Milly Maker this week. Or you can just take the cash, I don’t give a shit what you do with it. And now Fienberg is being a GREAT MAN and adding a Justin Herbert rookie card into the prize pool.
There are myriad ways to get ballots into the draw, but the main one, per usual, is leaving a review for the PME audio podcast. Even if you’ve done it before, do it again and re-qualify. Takes like 30 seconds.

There’s some MAJOR fallout from the Picks Show today. It’s our own fault for being so convincing that Cust would use our own picks against us. But we’re likely going to have to come to terms that out Sungjae 66/1 tickets are going to lose in the most horrible way possible.

That’s what I’m rolling wiht so far. Waiting some Scheffler drift or a good boost. I’ll bet it at 15 (best I’ve seen), but I don’t think that number is going anywhere with all the Rory and JT HYPE atm. I’m still thinking about adding a bomb or two with the extended each ways, or maybe one more in the 30-60 range. Undecided as of now.
That Berger 66 is still available at Bet365 with 8 Places as a boost bet as of Tuesday evening.

Our friends at JOCK MARKET are begging you to join and play, and I really think you should. If you’re unfamiliar, it’s Fantasy Sports mixed with the Stock Market. Except this stock market isn’t in the cellar atm. You purchase players as stocks and ride the dividends. BIG JOHN covers this with his MLB bets every day on MMN, which has become the most profitable on the network. Move over Dog or Pass Podcast. Plus, if you sign up NOW, using code. “MMN” at first deposit, they’ll match your deposit up to $100. AND, they’re giving out EXTRA BONUSES this week for the US Open too for first time players.
Essentially, pay for a low cost share of Harry Hall and roll around in a big pile of cash and maybe get some dividends tossed your way.

HARD HOLES
You may have heard this already, but, the US Open is likely to play pretty difficult. You’ve likely heard me allude to it during the week, but my MAIN MAN, and host of the DP World Tour Picks & Bets on MMN btw, Skylar Hoke has complied the SG for all players on holes scoring over par for the season. So, who plays the hardest holes best. I was going to include it in yesterday’s post, but he wanted to update it for post Canadian Open.
FOLLOW: SKYLAR HOKE ON TWITTER
In total, there have been 1,094 holes on the PGA Tour in the 21-22 season that have averaged over par. Sky eliminated those with low sample sizes because in hilarious fashion, Harry Hall leads SG Total on Difficult Holes by .25 strokes. Hall had 26 of them total at Shriners and dominated them. The opposite of what happened to me when Rick and I played TPC Summerlin in February.
Worth nothing, Scheffler was second entering last week. And, MOLINARI?????
MORE PLAYER NOTES
If you missed the first wave of player profiles, you can read them in Sunday’s post.
Jason Kokrak
It’s been a tough scene lately, but he has gained a total of 8.5 strokes putting at his past two US Opens (6.4 in the September version of 2020, the sixth best putting event of his career)
Form isn’t really a thing for him when chasing outright tickets
He’s finished outside the top-45 in his event preceding each of his three TOUR wins … so maybe four such finishes over the past three months (including his past two events) is exactly the form we are looking for!
Hideki Matsuyama
5 straight US Open top-30’s after missing the cut in 2016
He’s gained at least 5.9 SG:APP in each of his past 3 trips to the US Open
In those past 3 trips, he’s gained a total of 18.9 opportunities on the field
No one is arguing that he’s a great (or even good) putter, but he’s at least trending in a good enough direction
Past 5 months (total): +9.9 strokes
Final 5 months of 2021 (total): -33.4 strokes
Collin Morikawa
4th at the 2021 US Open despite losing a stroke putting
Irons over everything. He gained 8.3 strokes on approach that week. For his career when gaining over 7.5 strokes in approach, his average finish is 6th place (with half of his finishes coming 4th or better)
He gained on approach despite missing the cut at Memorial and prior to that event, posted his top-2 SG:APP since that impressive showing at this event last season at Charles Schwab (+5.6) and RBC Heritage (+7.1)
It’s been nearly 21 months since the last time Morikawa gained strokes putting and didn’t finish that event as a top-7 golfer on the final leaderboard.
Is Cust’s OAD pick, so that’s bad
Joaquin Niemann
Form Check
4 straight gaining over 2 strokes Putting
Worth noting given that he was better T2G than 10 of the top-25 finishers at the 2021 US Open
5 straight events gaining over 2 strokes OTT
+6.3 strokes on approach at Memorial (a welcomed site after bleeding a total of 3.8 in his two events prior)
Jon Rahm
Defending Champ
Coming off the 7th best putting week of his career (+5.6 at Memorial)
He finished 10th at Memorial despite losing 1.4 strokes off the tee
Safe to call the OTT struggles a blip. A blip might even be overshooting what it was. A micro-blip. A blip-ett. Dude had gained at least 4.5 strokes OTT in 6 straight events prior to the poor showing two weeks ago.
Cadence
He hasn’t played consecutive weeks since March, opting for extra prep time (he did this last season too … he played four times in three months around this time on the calendar last season. His finishes? 8-1-3-3)
Xander Schauffele
5 straight top-7 finishes at this event
2021: 11.8 strokes gained T2G, the fifth best showing of his career
He’s been money of late T2G: over 7.5 strokes gained in four straight measured events (all top-20 finishes)
Look at his rolling stats and you’ll noticed significant SG:APP growth
So much so that he finished top-20 at Memorial despite losing nearly 4 strokes to the field cumulative OTT and P
Gaining over 6 Good Drives per tournament over his past 5 events
Webb Simpson
Post 3 straight top-20’s at the US Open prior to the disaster of 2021 (MC, a 79 in Round 1 will do that)
Signs of life? Over 3.5 SG:T2G in consecutive events (Charles Schwab and the PGA Championship)
He hadn’t done that since August 2020 (Wyndham and Northern Trust)
The Case for Rory… Beyond the Obvious
Form Check
2021 – Jon Rahm
4 weeks off prior
Top 10 in 3 of his 5 tourneys prior (8th at the PGA)
Putting had improved in consecutive events (and did again in his win)
Gained in GIRs in each of he 10 tourneys prior
2019 – Gary Woodland
Week off prior
8th at the PGA
Over 1.0 birdie gained in his 8 tourneys prior (10.2 birdies gained in the two events he played directly prior)
2018 – Brooks Koepka
Top 11 in 2 of 3 tourneys prior
The PGA played prior to the US Open: 13th
Gained over 1.5 strokes putting in each of his 4 events prior
2017 – Brooks Koepka
Limited form -- exception
The PGA played prior to the US Open: 4th
2016 – Dustin Johnson
Top-12 in 5 of 6 tourneys prior
The PGA played prior to the US Open: 7th
The average finish of those past 5 US Open Champs at the PGA prior … 8th (8th, 8th, 13th, 7th and 4th) Solo 8th at the 2022 PGA this season: Rory McIlroy
Rory’s form extends well beyond that PGA finish. He’s been Top 20 in 5 straight since missing the cut at Valero in early April. Including the win in Toronto
But that’s not the only profile Mr. McIlroy hits …
And that’s not all
Rahm: Both held the title of top Amateur in the world during their come up and both anti-LIV golf
Woodland: Both he and McIlroy has a US Open win on their resume that included 4 rounds in the 60’s and a top-10 finish from Louie Oosthuizen
Koepka: In addition to having nearly the same birthday (McIlroy: May 4, 1989, Kopeka: May 3, 1990), and residing in Jupiter Florida, both Kopeka and McIlory held the title of “#1 player in the world” during 2020.
Johnson: Both he and McIlroy have top-2 finishes in all four majors on their resumes.
