Week 3 RB Snaps
Week 3 Team Notes
NYG: Malik Nabers creates the highlights and Devin Singletary the fantasy discussion because he laid down on the one-yard line to ensure his real life team a victory ... but how about Wan'Dale Robinson quietly clearing 9.5 PPR in all three games so far? No fun, but game script is usually going to work in his favor and all points count the same!
CLE: Amari Cooper scored on the first play and then disappeared for essentially three quarters before ending strong. If that's not the perfect picture of the Browns, I don't know what is. Assuming the late hard landing means nothing long-term, Cooper is a Flex that will never finish as a Flex -- top 15 WR or outside of the top 50
GB: I loved seeing the creativity surrounding Jayden Reed, a role that will put him back into the WR2 mix with Jordan Love expected back next week.
TEN: It was good to see flashes of DeAndre Hopkins, but if you're counting on any Will Levis weapon, you get what you deserve ... best of luck.
CHI: It was another ugly day for Caleb Williams and that was with two completed bombs. There's not a player you should feel OK about starting in this offense until we see signs of growth.
IND: More long shots and picks from Anthony Ricahrdson. As bad as it can look, the potential is still there ... the Colts get the Broncos, Titans, and Giants to close the fantasy season. I'd check on how the A-Rich manager is doing and if they are open to a deal.
HOU: Stefon Diggs continues to occupy the low-octane role in this offense. He was productive in Week 1 and again in Week 3 -- I doubt we get a two-thirds hit rate moving forward, so if you want to sell for aa top-25 options, I wouldn't blame you.
MIN: You can't stop Jalen Nailor, you can only hope to contain him. Players drafted in the 6th round or later of the NFL draft to score in Weeks 1-2-3 to open a season since 2014: Nailor, Adam Thielen (2021), and Tyrell Williams (2019). And he had another one called back via penalty (38-yarder)
PHI: Saquon Barkley is always one play away. His stat line took off via a 65-yard score, the fifth such rushing score in his career (tied with Derrick Henry for the most since 2018).
NO: As it turns out, this isn't the greatest offense in the history of history. The volume for Alvin Kamara was elite, but can he hold up with this role? There's plenty of risk in labeling him as an elite option -- Shaheed fell flat this week, but again, that's part of the deal when committing to a player like this.
LAC: Quentin Johnston had more TD catches in a five quarter stretch bridging Weeks 2-3 (3) than he did in his entire rookie season (2).
PIT: Could Justin Fields shift toward what we wanted Anthony Richardson to be? Athletic profile with an alpha WR1. Fields scored on the ground and targeted five different players at least five times. If he can show discipline like that as a passer ... he's an interesting option with the Colts, Cowboys, and Raiders next up.
DEN: Bo Nix went over his completions prop ... with 7.5 minutes left ... in the third quarter. Rookie QBs with a 25-45-1 (completions-rush yards- rush TD) game since 2000: Nix, Stroud, Herbert, and Cam Newton.
TB: Chris Godwin has scored in all 3 games this season ... he averaged one score every 6.4 games played over the two seasons prior.
CAR: Unlocked? I'd be careful in going that far, they did get the Raiders, but there is hope for Diontae Johnson and Chuba Hubbard as long as Dalton is under center (which should be the rest of the season). This is probably their best offensive output of the season, but 20-24 points is achievable ... that wasn't the case under Bryce Young
LV: This backfield is one to ignore and while the pass game has two players you're starting weekly, there are going to be duds like this. The upcoming schedule could result in more days like this -- Browns, Broncos, and Steelers over the next three weeks.
MIA: They get the Titans in Week 4, the same defense that gave up 30 points and 6.4 yards per play to Malik Willis' Packers. If not for that, the value of these skill guys would be in serious question ... if your team sits at 0-3 or 1-2, selling your Dolphins at a discount might well be your best option.
SEA: JSN SZN might not be here quite yet, but I still think he's the second option in this passing game. He'll be on my flex radar in a potential MNF shootout in Detroit this week.
BAL: Derrick Henry has scored in every game with the Ravens, this one being the first one where it truly felt like he was wearing down the opponent. They get the Bills, Bengals, and Commanders over the next three weeks -- he should be everything you wanted him to be.
DAL: Jake Ferguson was earning targets in his return to action and should be viewed as a top-10 TE moving forward. The backfield remains murky, though it seems like Rico Dowdle has the inside track while the WR2 role in this offenses remains useless
SF: Jauan Jennings becomes the first player picked 200th or later in the NFL Draft to catch 3 TD passes in a game since Marques Colston (2012).
LAR: Kyren Williams, the lone remaining skill player in LA, recorded his sixth career multi-TD effort, but efficiency is going to be an issue for the foreseeable future.
DET: Jahmyr Gibbs ran well for a second consecutive week and a beautiful hook-and-ladder got his the TD catch (albeit not on a reception). He deserves to have his name on the list of running backs who could lead the position in scoring when 2024 is all said and done.
AZ: Michael Wilson might have the most confusing role in the league for a player that can make plays down the field -- he can be the WR2 in this offense, but not like this. He doesn't need to be rostered right now and is nothing more than a DFS dart throw.
