TEAM-BY-TEAM NOTES
Saints: Derek Carr completed 375 passes last season. If he completes 375 passes this season at his current pace, he'll finish 2024 with 5,538 yards and 62 TD passes.
Cowboys: It's been 11 months since the last time CeeDee Lamb didn't either score or see 10+ targets in a game.
Buccaneers: Chris Godwin has caught 17 of 16 targets for 200 yards and 2 scores through two weeks. In September last season (three games), he totaled 13 catches on 19 targets for 141 yards and 0 TDs.
Lions: Jameson Williams earned 11 targets even with Amon-Ra St. Brown doing his thing. He has a 50+ yard catch and a rush attempt in both games this season -- you're not high enough on him. And you might be too high on Sam LaPorta (6 catches on 8 targets for 58 yards through two weeks).
Colts: Alec Pierce has scored in both games this season and there might not be a more obvious sell out there if you can get anything of weekly value. 181 yards and two TDs on just 10 targets this season isn't going to sustain, not to mention that Josh Downs is eventually going to return while Adonai Mitchell will, like more rookie wideouts, develop with reps.
Packers: For the first time in 23 months, Josh Jacobs has a 30+ yard carry in consecutive games. Green Bay didn't trail for a second in this game -- if game script is in his favor, Jacobs is a strong RB2, I'm just not sure that's going to be the case with Malik Willis under center on a consistent basis.
Jets: Breece Hall has scored in both games. He's touched the ball 21 times in both games. His path to being the RB1 this season is clear with CMC shelved, especially if you think this offense improves with time.
Titans: Calvin Ridley scored twice and both were weird. Everything in Tennessee is weird. If you can pivot off of him for someone that is buying anything attached to Will Levis, I'd do it and not think twice.
49ers: Jordan Mason has every rushing yard by San Fran RBs this season. Every. Single. One. He might not be 90% of McCaffrey from a skill set standpoint, but his role ranks among the most favorable in the sport and should for the next two months at a minimum.
Vikings: Ty Chandler ran hard and Aaron Jones got dinged up. I don't think he's anything special, but Jones' time as a fantasy starter could be in jeopardy sooner than later, even when healthy.
Seahawks: JSN saw 16 targets to Tyler Lockett's 2. The second-year receiver is closer to DK Metcalf than Lockett in terms of fantasy value moving forward.
Patriots: Rhamondre Stevenson has produced in consecutive weeks and that's been a result of competitive game scripts. I refuse to think that the Pats are an average team and if you're with me there, this is likely Stevenson's best two-game stretch of the season.
Giants: The Giants had one player clear 33 receiving yards against maybe the worst defense in the league. It was Malik Nabers and he finished with a 10-127-1 stat line. The kid is special, though I have a hard time thinking he overcomes this situation at this level on a consistent basis.
Commanders: Austin Ekeler is going to be a pain, but Brian Robinson is pretty clearly an asset. He should be locked into fantasy lineups on a consistent basis as long as you understand that game script will work away from him elevating past the RB2 ranking.
Chargers: JK Dobbins does it again. The doubt isn't the talent, it's the availability. My concern is moving forward. The Steelers and Chiefs are tough matchups before the bye ... and then you get nearly three straight months of games. If someone is evaluating him as a top 15 RB ROS, I'd make the move
Panthers: Thoughts and prayers if you're counting on this team for some reason.
Browns: There are some talented players on this offense, though I'm not sure you can count on any of them consistently. Deshaun Watson can't get on the same page with Amari Cooper and D'Onta Foreman outcarried Jerome Ford 14-7.
Jaguars: As Brian Thomas Jr. develops into a target earner, he's going to be a difference maker. When that will happen is anyone's guess, but these spike plays don't seem like a fluke.
Raiders: Davante Adams is what he is. A star. Zamir White is what he is ... the opposite. Brock Bowers certainly looks like the real deal (9-98-0 on 9 targets) and if this team is going to function through his versatility, I have no reason to think he can be a weekly top-7 option at the position
Ravens: We learned nothing about the TE position and that's a pain. I'm treating Baltimore's trio of pass catchers (TE's + Flowers) the same way I did the 49ers trio entering the season -- blindly play any of them that I own and be fully aware that it'll be a wild ride.
Rams: This offense looked broken. I'm writing this off as a one-week aberration ... but they do get the 49ers and Bears over the next two weeks.
Cardinals: It's almost like Marvin Harrison Jr was a high-pedigree option for a receiver. He had TD catches of 23 and 60 yards in the first 7 minutes against the Rams, flashing the upside that we all penciled him in for. You're starting him weekly in all formats.
Steelers: Najee Harris gave some work back to Jaylen Warren, but he's the lead in this backfield until otherwise noted. For now, this defense is as much of a must start as any skill position player.
Broncos: This is a league of the haves and have nots. I'll give you one guess as to which bucket this offense falls into -- you shouldn't feel any pressure to play anyone from this team.
Bengals: Joe Burrow looked a little bit better and yet, it didn't really matter for Ja'Marr Chase managers. There's not much you can do here -- just hope that the easy upcoming schedule serves as a get right opportunity (Commanders next Monday night and the Panthers after that)
Chiefs: If Rashee Rice is going to get a few deep looks like he did on his touchdown, a top-10 season is a good bet with Hollywood Brown likely done for the regular season
