Week 16 RB Opportunities
Week 16 Team Notes
Giants: A nice touchdown catch fromTyrone Tracy is something, I guess. This team offers no upside and even with a concentrated pass attack, none of the receivers are safe from a low floor. Is Malik Nabers destined to be Terry McLaurin as the NFC East uber-talent without any help?
Falcons: Michael Penix Jr. didn't exactly take the game by storm, but by funneling 9 of his first 12 completions to Darnell Moooney and Drake London, he's doing all we need.
Lions: Efficient Jared GOOF finally pays off all of his pass catchers that we care about. St. Brown, Williams, and LaPorta all found paydirt. I think you're trusting all of them in your Super Bowl, knowing that them all getting there isn't very likely.
Bears: Keenan Allen has caught at least five passes in four of his past five games and is benefiting from what has turned into a high volume passing attack -- he and DJ Moore are PPR options, even if the floor is low with Caleb Williams being all over the place
Browns: Jerome Ford has a 60+ yard run in consecutive games, but my God is this offense hard to watch. David Njoku did enough, but there's not a single pass catcher that profiles as a lineup like with DTR under center.
Bengals: Ja'Marr Chase saves an ordinary day with a free-play 32-yard TD late that probably should have never happened -- but that's what happens when you roster elite talents. Chase has the best receiving yardage season in the history of the franchise -- is he the 1.01 next season?
Titans: Tyjae Spears cashed in with two scores but split work with Tony Pollard. There's not much to like in that backfield, but Mason Rudolph continues to load up Chig Okonkwo with work and he's on the TE1 fringe for Super Bowl week.
Colts: The Lions and Bears combined for 557 yards of offense in the first half on Sunday. That’s the fourth most in a game this season – it’s the third most in a Lions game this season.
Rams: The Rams had just 50 plays and when Kyren Williams is running well, a low play count is going to leave this pass game with nothing. I'm not reading into it -- Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp accounted for 78.6% of LAR receptions.
Jets: A 31% target share for Davante Adams -- I thought these old guys were supposed to fade with time? It's obviously too late for Tim's Jets, but at least the WRs are paying off (Breece Hall took back the lead role and totaled 90 yards.
Eagles: Saquon Barkley ran for 109 yards in the first quarter against the Commanders on Sunday, giving him the most in a first quarter since 2011. Who did he unseat? Saquon Barkely in 2019 – against the Commanders – on December 22 (2019).
Commanders: Terry McLaurin has a dozen TDD catches this season, equaling his number from his top two scoring seasons prior.
Cardinals: James Conner has consecutive games with a 40+ yard carry – he had one such run in his career with the Cardinals prior (794 rush attempts).
Panthers: Bryce Young has rushed for 20+ yards or a touchdown in six straight games (he did both this week). The passing is sporadic, but if the rushing can be consistent ... maybe this profile gets interesting.
Vikings: Maybe the Sam Darnold regression stuff is waiting for the playoffs? He's been great and with over one-third of his looks going to Justin Jefferson against the Seahawks, it's easy to continue to trust him.
Seahawks: Kenneth Walker was back to his PPR scamming ways and that works for those who played him. It's clear that, despite the production when trusted with the lead role, this team views Zach Charbonnet as an accent piece, not a complimentary one.
Patriots: Kayshon Boutte is a day late and a dollar short for most DFS guys -- I can't wait for the rubberband game next week (or when he plays these Bills again in Week 18).
Bills: James Cook continues to run hot (four rush TDs of 40+ yards). He's a good, versatile back, but is it possible that we are in the midst of his best season? And thus, that his asking price next season will be a little too expensive?
Jaguars: Take it how you get it. Brian Thomas was held in check for the majority of the first three quarters before the 62-yard score.
Raiders: Brock Bowers is going to be a fascinating player to rank next season, but there's no denying what he has done as a rookie -- 8+ catches is supposed to be rare for a TE and he's done it in the majority of his games since the beginning of October.
49ers: It only took three RB injuries, but we finally got the Deebo Samuel usage that we've hoped for. He's viable, but I'm still not forcing him into lineups.
Dolphins: How many running backs will you draft ahead of De'Von Achane this summer provided that Tua and everyone is healthy? That's four straight games with at least a handful of receptions and if he can just middle his rushing efficiency from his first two seasons, his path to RB1 honors is pretty clear.
