Week 14 RB Opportunities
Week 14 Team Notes
JAX: Brian Thoams Jr. had zero first half receptions and eight in the second half -- that's tied for the fourth most receptions by a rookie in the second half since 2000 (only rookies with a higher total: Eddie Royal, Odell Beckham, and Malik Nabers).
TEN: Calvin Ridley had as many targets as his teammates had receptions (12).
NYJ: For one week, the Aaron Roders/Garrett Wilson thing was what we hoped for 15 months ago. He cleared 100 yards against the Dolphins (he had a total of 100 receiving yards in the month prior)
MIA: Achane-Hill-Waddle. It's nearly Christmas time and we finally got a game that resembled the offensive structure that we had hoped for. Can we count on it moving forward? I think so, at least to enough of a level where starting Waddle weekly makes sense.
ATL: Mooney Tunes had a few big catches early and a few more late. This offense is functioning how you'd want for the most part, if only Kirk Cousins didn't insiste on turning over the ball before they get a chance to finish these drives.
MIN: Jordan Addison's long touchdown was a little flucky, but he saw seven of 10 Sam Darnold targets in the first half and that doesn't happen by accident. I don't think we are looking at a consistent player, but if he can prove to be a consistent earner, this team could use it! That said, if you think this is the version we see weekly from Sam Darnold, I'll set up a meeting with AnderCUST and Geoff for you.
NO: Juwan Johnson had an early 30-yard catch and was found on an 11-yard touchdown in the third quarter. He's not Taysom Hill, but he's about all this team has in terms of NFL experience and that holds value, especially if you think the game script is going to favor the pass more often than not for New Orleans.
NYG: I guess a bad defense can beat a bad offense. This game was brutal. Tyrone Tracy Jr. is locked into the lead role and that gives him a chance, but don't assume that volume equates to production, not in a mess like this (he got there late with the TD, but it was a grind).
CAR: Adam Thielen soaked up a ton of usage with Jalen Coker out and Xavier Legette getting dinged up early. He's older Jakobi Meyers ... if you have to go that way in PPR leagues, you can, but understand the risk that comes with the ineptitude of the offense around him. He had 5 conversions on third/fourth down, tied for the most such receptions in a game this season.
PHI: Saquon Barkley got a shot from the 1 ... he failed. Hurts scores on the next play. Barkley is 0/3 in such spots this season while his QB is 10/13
CLE: As it turns out, there's risk in banking on Jameis Winston. Go figure! Basically half of Jerry Jeudy's production came on an early score and David Njoku got there late. The highs are high in this offense, but don't forget that nothing in this offense is "safe".
PIT: That's 11 straight games with a rush TD or multiple catches for Najee Harris. Nothing about him is exciting, but the production has been stable and it doesn't seem likely to dry up.
LV: You knew the risk that came with relying on this passing game. Jakobi Meyers and Brock Bowers have been reliable, but this isn't a crazy outcome.
TB: Like it or not, a banged up Bucky Irving makes Rachaad White a fantasy star again. He ran hard today (check out his stiff arm) and with the versatile skill set, this is an inefficient player that can't help but succeed.
SEA: Don't look now, but Jaxon Smith-Njigba is the WR1 in Seattle -- DK Metcalf has one touchdown reception after scoring in two of three games to open the season.
ARI: Is Trey McBride going to be prime Travis Kelce? That's 41 targets over his past three games and seven games this season with at least six catches.
BUF: Josh Allen finished 18 rushing yards shy of the double bonus and became the first player to have 3 passing touchdowns and 3 rushing touchdowns in a fantasy game.
LAR: Puka Nacua was unguardable for the entire night -- but how about five rushing attempts (Weeks 1-13: 4)
CHI: Rome Odunze scored twice on five targets (Weeks 1-13: one touchdown on 76 targets).
SF: Isaac Guerendo becomes the first player with a rush TD and 50 receiving yards in the first quarter of a game this season.
