I chatted with my fellow 2023 Fantasy Writers Association Golf Writer of the Year nominees Alex Blickle (FTN) & Byron Lindeque (Rotoballer) to discuss how they got into golf content, their background, and what sets their content apart from everyone else.

WATCH: FINAL BETS & ONE AND DONE
Max Homa — For the second week in a row, Homa’s odds opened short and went up throughout the week. Seems like the right week to catch those falling odds. He’s cashed Top 10 paydays three of the past four years at The RIV, including a win. Plus, he has a win at the closet comp court in Quail Hollow, and lit up Quail during the Presidents Cup last year. This all came down to the number. It dopped down to 24 from 16 at open. That was good enough for me.
Viktor Hovland — Per usual, Hovland was submarined by chipping woes in Phoenix. The ball striking and putting: Quite good. Keep that rolling into LA and VIK will have a chance to finally break through on the American mainland at a course where he’s finished T4 and T5 in two starts.
Si Woo Kim — Once the Ricky Bobby of golf, Si Woo has started to develop some consistency the past year. He hasn’t missed a cut since a trip to Scotland last summer, and has churned out three Top 30 finishes following his win at Sony earlier this year. The new putter has paid instant dividend, with Si Woo gaining on the greens in four straight, and rates out best in the field over the past 24 round in proximity from 150-200 yards.
Sam Burns & Taylor Montgomrey — Look, I’ll be real. I wanted more action down for the week and I needed to get my bets in before I took for Vegas. Like Homa, the Burns number crashed into the mid-30s which was a green light for me. And Monty had a shit week. It happens. No clue whether or not he can handle The RIV on his first go through (ditto for Meronk btw), but I do think he has the proper on-paper skill set to excel here.
XFL DFS
Look, I get it, XFL and USFL are pretty stupid. But, as I found out last year with the USFL, if you have good projections, you can smash the DFS and Props market. There’s 100K up top to the winner of the $15 in Week 1. There’s another 10K up top for the Saturday $10 showdown contest on DraftKings. Justin and I went through the teams and talk about how to use the tools.
WATCH: XFL DK PICKS, STRATEGY & SHOWDOWN
Beyond DK, I know Prize Picks is gonna drop props as well. Prize Picks was a printing press for everyone running the projections last year. Some lines were 20/30 yards off the projections.
I have no better ROI in any sport ever than USFL last year and I never watched a second. Just ran the sims and collected my cash. We’re not going to have all the starting situations cleared up until later in the week (if at all) but Justin will have the projections and sims all updated the moment new news is available. Since we don’t know if prize pools will dry up after the first few weeks, we’re offering a monthly sub for $49.99. Hopefully there’s enough of the GPP and prop moneies to go around for everyone. (Code “MAYO” for 10% off btw)

NETFLIX GOLF
Since I’m doing this on a plane, I managed to get in the first two episodes of the Netflix golf series. Between Me, Geoff, Cust, Rasa, Kenny & others, were going to recap the series (likely 2 eps at a time), but here are some quick thoughts. No Spoliers.
Ep1 JT/Spieth — As boring as they are. JT dad seems legit.
Ep2 Brooks/Scheffler — For as phony as Brooks always seems, he seemed pretty authentic to me in this ep. Much better than Ep 1.
GENESIS STATS
I did the walk through on the Sunday research show, and these are the top players (Past 24 rounds) in my key stats. Make your own at FN btw.

GENESIS DK NOTES
WATCH: GENESIS DK PICKS, BETS, ONE & DONE
There always seems to be some cheap options that determine GPP’s, but there is almost always one of the top players in the field circling. When building a lineup this week, you’ll want to be very comfortable with your big gun before dumpster diving.
2022: The top-2 scorers were sub-$8,000, but the next five were all over $8,000. JT and Morikawa were both top-4 in pricing and finished top-6 in scoring
2021: Five guys had a five digit price tag … just one (Jon Rahm) finished among the top-13 DK scorers for the week.
2020: No $8,000 player reached 80 DK points (two of the top-6 scorers were in the $6,000’s)
2019: JT and Rory were 2nd and 3rd in pricing … finished 2nd and 4th in DK points. But Holmes ($7,200) led the way in DK scoring while my guys Si WOO and Luke List were both priced $7,400 and finished top-7 in DK points.
2018: Six players scored 90+ DK points and they were all priced $7,100-$8,200.
2017: DJ won at $11,400 (3rd most expensive) and that’s great … the only other three players to reach triple digit DK points were all sub-$7,000. Just three of players priced over $8,000 finished better than 20th in DK points.
