CANADIAN OPEN BETS
Before the bets, SUB (thanks), but here’s a list of the notable WDs iin case you missed them…
CT Pan
Patrick Reed
Adam Schenk
Nate Lashley
Jared Wolfe
Pat Perez
Luke List
It’s a lighter week for me with this extremely top heavy field. I had wagers on Reed and Pan but, of course, they are no longer in thew field. No losing its the closest I’ve come to a win in ages, so I choose to see it as a positive. When you hit an 11/1 Rory, you soon’t have much wiggle room for the rets of the card. I really like Lowry, but I just feel 33/1 Hatton is better value than 20/1 Lowry. Obv, I could be wrong, so I’ll have to live with the results.

Rory McIlroy — It’s gotta be coming, right? Tee to Green, Rory hasn’t slipped below +7.5 SG since pre Masters. It’s just that one round that keeps taking him out of contention. The fun thing about Rory is, this isn’t anything new. His constant leaderboard lurking leaves many with a bad taste in their mouths, but the fact he’s always there is just giving more chances at a win. I haven’t bit so far this year, that changes now, however. Keep up the T2G dominance, and putt good, not even great, and he’s a run away winner in Canada again.
Tyrrell Hatton — He could’t drive it at Heritage, then couldn’t hit an iron at Wells Fargo, so if he can just get ALLLL his game on the same page, the Brit is actually perfectly suited to take advantage of the St. George’s layout.

I’m considering doing some of those awful Twitter threads everyone hates for NFL stuff. They really do seem to work for engagement and exposure. And, if they actually have actionable info in them, the heat seems to be a lot less. Like Tambo’s for example. And then you csna mock me in DMs! Win/Win.

WEATHER
Don’t see much of a weather split this week, as it’s pretty difficult to parse how the early rain is going to affect the tee times. There could be delays, or it could just be damp and the AM wave may get a bunch of soft green with potential lift, clean and place in play for MAX scoring. Some blind stacks either way may be worth a stab if you’re entering a lot of DK lineups.

TAMBO’S TIDBITS
Another week, and another thread from Tambo on the most interesting nuggets for Memorial he’s come across this week

GALAXY BRAIN: A TIGHT PLAYER POOL, EH?
We are in Canada this week and, to some degree, shooting blind when it comes to modeling with this tournament not being played at Glen Abbey. I repeat. Different course. Hasn’t been played since Inception was first released. Yea, it’s been a minute. That said, Fantasy National members have the ability to parse things out and, I’d argue, have an even greater edge when less is widely known about the event.
What we do know about this tournament is that it’s a long short course. A Par 70 that measures 7,014 yards doesn’t look long on a scorecard, but look a little closer and this is a week where excelling from distance is going to help. St. George’s has 14 holes that figure to reward long iron play: the three Par 5’s, the four long Par 3’s and the seven Par 4’s that measure over 450 yards. With an average drive distance on Tour around 300 yards, we are looking at a ton of long irons, especially if the guys club down to ensure being in the fairway. Long irons are usually important, but this week, they might just be mandatory.
With a full field, the winner is going to have to run hot with the putter. They just are. Getting in position to score is great, but paying them off- is just as key in an event that feels like will require somewhere in the 14-18 under par range to win. So … who in this field ranks (on course with average-to-difficult fairways to hit) top-35 in both Prox: 200+ and putting in the 5-10 foot range that we’ve learned is the most predictive way to evaluate the flat stick?
Sam Burns ($10,000)
Tyrell Hatton ($9,500)
Mackenzie Hughes ($8,400)
Mark Hubbard ($7,900)
Cam Champ ($7,800)
Patrick Rodgers ($7,700)
Charley Hoffman ($6,700)
Danny Lee ($6,600)
There are a few ways to use that information. You can simply create a lineup based on this skill set, hoping to 100% nail the requirements to compete here:
Or … you may have listened to the early week podcasts and picked up on my fondness for Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry? Well, the above list can work with that as a start point as well:
Or … you could pepper in the Fienberg plays and fill in the holes with guys from the above list:
There’s no need to use every dollar like the above three options have, I just did that to give you an idea. Feel free to go lower if you’d like, tweak the top of the board … it’s your lineup. I’m just putting options on the buffet: pick what you like and build that bankroll for US Open week!
DRAFTKINGS OWNERSHIP
Rory looks like the most popular expensive player by a little but over JT and Iron Scheff. FITZ is the logical starting point for balanced build with Conners, Finau and Kirk working in with those combos. And the WD from PAN late is going to push TOOOOOO much ownership on to Todd and Rai. That should make Rasmus, Hughes and Vegas excellent pivots. Or not, if they suck. I’ll be fading Todd and Rai for that range.
